"The training was informative, instructive, and enlightening. It provided an opportunity not only to communicate effectively with children, but self development for anyone deals with children." -Lead Teacher's feedback from the training Learning to Listen: Alternative Communication for Inclusive Settings. New attitudes and actions come from self discovery.
Most professional development results in no changes to behavior at all.
Our trainings are different. By focusing on adult learning principles and self-discovery, our trainings target learning on both an emotional and intellectual level. We tap into shared human experiences. We highlight how the skills, feelings, and challenges of early childhood reverberate into adulthood. Our learning experiences help adults build empathy and understanding for what young children are going through. Which helps adults tap into their new skills in the moment.
Trying a new strategy in the middle of a busy day or a challenging behavior is tough. Having an emotional understanding helps us remember to reach for that strategy. As adults, we know what it feels like to be dismissed or judged. If we can tap into our own experiences when a child is feeling that way, we are more likely to try something different. Reach for a new tool rather than a familiar behavior.
